“By carefully planning how you use the space and place items in your room, you will be able to create an environment that supports English learners. Posting and incorporating multicultural displays and materials will send a message that you care about your students and want them to be successful.”

A thoughtfully and purposefully organized classroom incorporating labels, support materials, and multicultural materials will not only benefit your ELL students with their English language skills, it will also support them to feel comfortable and confident in navigating the classroom. By establishing routine and displaying schedules for your students, you enable them with strategies to best approach their school day. Displaying student's work throughout the classroom is another effective way to demonstrate dimension and culture, as well as allowing students to track their own progress. Each of these organizational elements may not make a monumental difference on their own, however in combination they become a highly efficient tool in helping your ELL students build academic success.
